The Inland Revenue Bill published by Gaze. on 19 June 2017 along with amendments made at the Committee stage was passed by Parliament on 7 September 2017 and will become an Act of Parliament once it receives the certification of the Hon. Speaker.
The new Act is effective from April 1, 2018. The relevant Regulations, Guidelines, clarification etc. will be provided once the Act Is available to the public enabling the taxpayers to make necessary changes in their computer systems In advance. The details of awareness programs schedule to be conducted by Inland Revenue Department will be announced shortly.
The provisions of the existing Act No 10 of 2006 is effective for the year of assessment 2017/2018 as well. 2017
