The application for obtaining the import license to import an electric vehicle has been made public when expatriate workers legally send money to Sri Lanka through the banking system.

It is possible to download the relevant application by visiting the website of the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment or through the website https://si.labourmin.gov.lk.

Labor and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara has taken steps to provide many concessions to expatriate workers who send money legally through the banking system, and the Cabinet of Ministers has obtained approval to import an electric vehicle for expatriate workers.

Accordingly, the gazette announcement and the application giving permission for the import of electric vehicles have been issued.

Accordingly, from the first of May this year to the 30th of April of next year, the workers who have sent more than thirty US dollars to Sri Lanka through the banking system will be allowed to import an electric motorcycle with a value of fifty percent of the amount of money they have sent.

The circular further states that workers who have sent an amount of twenty US dollars between May 1st and December 31st of this year will be allowed to import an electric vehicle.

Cabinet approval has also been given to the cabinet paper presented by Minister Manusha Nanayakkara to increase the duty relief available at the airport to 6550 US dollars for workers who send money legally through the banking system.
