Senior Manager – Actuarial

The Job
The person will be responsible for the use of Actuarial techniques to conduct Actuarial valuations, experience investigations, solvency calculations, regulatory reporting and compliance while ensuring that stakeholders’ reasonable expectations are met at all times.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Lead and oversee actuarial valuation and regulatory reporting – this includes Actuarial Valuation Model Management in Prophet (the actuarial software)
- Ensure that other cross-functional departments are supported in order to meet organisational, operational, and strategic goals
- Assist the Chief Actuarial Officer in developing and implementing business plans in accordance with the company’s strategic direction, while ensuring compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements
- Taking the initiative, leading and managing the team for effective and efficient output, and ensuring that subordinates’ and the team’s performance is always at their apex
- Lead experience investigations required for the valuation process
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified with Fellow or Associate membership of a recognised Actuarial institute. Part qualified candidates will also be considered
- Possess a BSc. in Business, Finance, Actuarial, or a related field. An MBA will be added qualification
- Have a minimum of 06 years Actuarial experience, with at least 02 years as a Senior Manager/Manager
- Possess prior hands-on experience with the software ‘Prophet’
- Have a strong commercial and business acumen, as well as excellent communication, presentation, and negotiating skills
- Have a strong understanding of global trends in the Insurance industry as well as Actuarial techniques
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as problem-solving, delegation, planning, prioritizing, and self-management abilities.
- Solid working knowledge of all MS Office applications
